I. Internship Introduction
If you love to learn, we’d love your help! This is a virtual/remote opportunity— i.e., you can work from anywhere. Working hour is flexible based on an agreed upon number of hours.
Connectedly is a Philadelphia-based not-for-profit organization committed to serving all older Philadelphians through programs that strengthen community connections, which are key to healthier living and improved quality of life.
The Graphic Design Intern will gain valuable team project experience as well as have the opportunity to influence and implement some individual projects. The Graphic Design Intern can expect to build specific skills in the following areas:
- Gain practical experience in graphic designing to build graphics that demonstrate value and impact of nonprofit organizations;
- Increase planning, organizational, and time management skills;
- Learn project design, management, and delivery;
- Increase knowledge of nonprofit-specific technology tools;
- Develop team-based work competencies.
II. Projects and Responsibilities
The Graphic Design Intern will be supporting Connectedly activities including social media campaigns and on/offline marketing related to Connectedly’s 40th Anniversary. Detailed duties for specific projects will include:
- Design logo and infographic for the 40th Anniversary;
- Design fundraising materials for the 40th Anniversary event;
- Design poster and brochure for the 40th Anniversary event;
- Design image to put on our social media platforms, such as Facebook, official website, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
III. Qualities/Experiences Desired
The Graphic Design Intern should demonstrate:
- Creative thinking— ability to create new design style, and modify and customize existing designs to fulfill needs of specific projects and reach the targeted population;
- Advanced in typography, print design and layout, web design, photography, and social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.);
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator;
- Ability to interact with diverse populations with respect and critical self-reflection;
- High level of initiative, as well as excellent time management and project management skills, to be able to meet deadlines on time or early;
- High level of accountability and ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team;
- Ability to be flexible with Connectedly’s changing needs, a high comfort level with web-based communications and web-based programs.

Opening for a new Board member!
Connectedly seeks a Board member who is a clinical practitioner (social worker, psychologist, nurse) to:
- Support the organization’s mission and seeks to make a difference in the lives of older adults
- Network with other professionals
- Engage in strategic planning and policy discussions
- Understands the world of social services and clinical needs of older adults
- Participates in five meetings per year (both in person and remote)
- Understands and commits to fundraising for the Board
- Completed Board training with a training program (preferred)

This is a unique opportunity to facilitate a peer support group for older adults. Groups are ongoing and meet in senior housing buildings, community centers, and other neighborhood locations throughout Philadelphia. Group Facilitators engage older adults in meaningful discussions on a regular basis and share in the power of community support. The minimum time commitment is two hours per session, twice monthly. Group Facilitators will receive training from Connectedly staff and ongoing leadership mentoring.
